We work with individuals, corporations and charitable agencies to create permanent endowment funds and then use the income to support thousands of charities. The original capital is endowed so that it generates income in perpetuity.
We recognize that communities are complex and that collaboration between multiple stakeholders is needed to help everyone thrive and evolve. Every year, through the generous support of our donors, we fund hundreds of innovative projects – large and small – in areas such as arts and culture, education, children and youth issues, environment, animal welfare, community health, and social development.
Our vision is to build healthy, vibrant, and livable communities across British Columbia.
Although Vancouver Foundation is a broad funder, we focus extra energy and resources on community-identified initiatives that strengthen our residents’ connections and engagement in their community.
We also work to convene partnerships and conversations around emerging issues such as addressing the needs of at-risk and immigrant and refugee youth, as well as those who are emerging from the foster care system.
We have made a commitment to Learning and Sharing the knowledge and resources developed through this work with our partners, and with the broader community through our Open Licensing Initiative.
Vancouver Foundation brings together donors, non-profits and charities, government, media and academic institutions, local leaders, and passionate individuals to build meaningful and lasting change in the province of BC.
And we do so with gratitude. Thank you for working with us to build healthy, vibrant, and livable communities across British Columbia.
Our Commitment to Reconciliation
Vancouver Foundation’s signature on the Philanthropic Declaration of Action on Reconciliation is a commitment to act on the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Our work includes a continuing partnership with Reconciliation Canada, a focus on funding reconciliation related projects through our granting, and dialogue among staff, Board of Directors, and Honorary Governors about how reconciliation should inform our strategic priorities. We also continue to seek Indigenous participation in our volunteer Advisory Committees.
